There are many legends and stories about the Black Madonna from all over the world. The emphasis of this course on one particular Madonna, or one particular image. Black holds all colors and she may be brown, gold, blue or magenta for you! The black images of her are invitation for all of us to consider our mother differently than we may have in the past. For her to appeal to all people from all traditions and skins. The image used in the painting demonstrations is based on the Virgen de Guadalupe but you can draw from any image of her that you are called to! – Shiloh

What is the time commitment? 4 hours per week on painting practices and 15 minutes per day journaling and writing. Plus three optional 1 hour conference calls ( recorded)
Requirements: No painting experience needed. You will need access to phone and internet, computer, acrylic paints and somewhere to set up your painting studio!
Materials: 16X20 canvas or larger, acrylic paints*, brushes, journal (Download the supply list: BlackMadonnaSupplies.pdf)
How does it work? And what if I live in another country?
(1) a series of videos which are released over the course of the four weeks and are available for viewing 24 hours a day.
(2) An online private “classroom” with the community of women in the course (just as with email, there’s no need to be ‘real time’ in your interactions in the campus.)
(3) Three conference calls which are recorded – so, although obviously enjoyable, there's no need to attend them real time. You can participate in the Black Madonna course in your own timezone!
